Posted 17 June 2010

NEWS & PHOTO FLASH: Philip Deignan is currently part of a 13 man break with a five minute advantage over the main peloton on the queen stage of the Tour de Suisse.

The Cervelo Test Team rider broke clear inside the opening 10 kilometres and could well be on course for a spectacular stage win.

Members of the break include Francesco Gavazzi (Lampre-Farnese Vini) who started the day 17th in the GC 26 seconds behind Tony Martin (HTC Columbia) and Juan Jose Oroz (Euskaltel-Euskadi) who started 30th at  49 seconds.

The group also includes Pablo Lastras Garcia (Caisse d’Epargne at 1:15); Marco Marcato (Vacansoleil at 3:25), Edouard Vorganov (Katusha at 7:32), Wouter Poels (Vacansoleil at 10:35), Alessandro Vanotti (Liquigas at 11:09), Juan Manuel Garate (Rabobank at 11 minutes), Amets Txurruka (Euskaltel-Euskadi at 17:58), Mathias Frank (BMC Racing at 19:07), and Brice Feillu (Vacansoleil at 27:35.

They held an advantage of 2:50 over the hors category Sustenpass and extended it to 5:30 over the first category Oberalppass.
